Fly Delta App Won't Log In? 154 Reviews Explain (2026)

By Unstar · Editorial Team

One in three Fly Delta complaints is the login screen, and the trigger is leaving the app for your password manager. We read 154 negative reviews.

If the Fly Delta app refuses your password, stop resetting it. Eighteen reviewers in this sample reset their password, reinstalled the app, or cleared the cache, and none of them report it working afterwards. Seven describe a trigger those steps cannot touch: the login screen breaks when you leave the app and come back, which is exactly what happens when you open a password manager.

The workaround one reviewer found is to paste the password field first, then the username field, and to have every value ready before you tap anything. The fallback that works is the website.

On 6 August 2026 we pulled the 500 newest US reviews from each store, then swept nine more language storefronts. On Google Play, 233 of 500 were rated 1-3 stars, 160 of them one star, and 117 were long enough to categorise, spanning 4 July to 6 August 2026. From the App Store we kept 37 substantive negatives dated 2026. That is 154 categorised complaints, plus a nine-language sweep that changed what we thought the app's biggest problem was.

Both stores are above 4.7, which is worth stating plainly: most people who rate this app are happy with it. This article is about the minority who are not, and their complaints are unusually concentrated.

One in Three Complaints Is the Login Screen

50 of the 154 reviews, 32.5%, are about signing in. No other cluster is close. The second largest, boarding passes, is 22.

It is also not a bad week. In the 34 day Google Play window, at least one person wrote in about login on 28 separate days. This is a steady state, not an incident.

Cannot use this app at all. I get an error message every time I try to log in. I can use the website, but it doesn't have all of the features. Sounds like this is happening with a lot of Android users.

PLEASE FIX LOGIN GLITCH. App hasn't worked for the whole month I've tried. I created an account in July and have had to do everything on their website. Immediately I'm hit with "We're Sorry. We are currently unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later." I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times over the month.

haven't been able to log into the app for 2 months now. at all. and in the past when I've been approaching a flight or even during transit I've been locked out of my account for accessing it a "suspicious number of times"

The cost lands in one specific place, and reviewers name it:

Constant issues not being able to log in. Changed passwords, reinstalled, updated, went through hours on phone with customer service. Extremely inconvenient at the airport

The Trigger Almost Nobody Names: Leaving the App

Seven reviewers describe the same sequence, and one of them wrote it up carefully enough to be reproducible:

Login page is bugged. After opening the app to the login page, when I navigate to my password manager and come back to paste in the Skymiles account #, the username and password fields are locked - can't tap into them and enter anything. I can open any of the hyperlinks though. I eventually got it to let me paste the password and then the username field was accessible. This persisted through a reinstall.

Read that closely. The fields are not rejecting the password. They stop accepting input at all, and the page is otherwise alive, because the links still work. That is why "my password is definitely correct" and "it says my details are wrong" appear in the same reviews.

Six others hit the same wall from different angles:

hot garbage! it freezes up at the login screen when going between apps. using a pw manager is a good thing. it's been over a year with the same problem. clearly it's by design. delta is nuts. password managers cannot autofill username field either.

Impossible to log in despite resetting password multiple times. Crashes any time I switch between another app.

Can't log in. the app just freezes up at the login screen. It also seems like their web team needs to fix the fields to work right with my password manager.

app doesn't work at all on pixel 10a. can't log in, can't slip between apps, even just continuing as guest crashes.

And one reviewer generalises it past the login screen entirely, which suggests the state loss is not specific to that one page:

If you ever switch to a different application to do things like look up address info or credit card information, the app freaks out and forces you to retype everything. so you must know all information before you start typing anything.

That is the single most useful sentence in the set. If you cannot log in, the fix is not a new password. It is having your username and password in your head or on paper before you open the app.

Why Reinstalling and Resetting Your Password Does Not Help

18 of the 50 login reviews report trying at least one of the standard remedies. Reinstall, factory-fresh install, password reset, cache clear, network change. Not one reports it resolving.

App is constantly crashing. Won't let me in with biometrics or username/password. clearing app cache and uninstall/reinstall not correcting issue.

No longer works on Pixel 9 Pro, and can't find support. Reinstalled, deleted cache, change networks, nothing works and no other apps affected.

The reason those steps fail is visible in the reviews above: none of them address app switching, and the reviewer who documented the field lock says explicitly that it "persisted through a reinstall".

One reviewer isolates it to a single device, which is the other thing worth checking before you spend an evening on this:

No longer allows me to login on my phone (S26 Ultra), while my credentials still work on my tablet and laptop. Frustrating, as my phone is my travel/airport device.

The Fallback That Works: the Website

The most repeated piece of practical advice in the whole set is one people arrive at by accident. The same credentials that the app rejects log in on delta.com.

I cannot log in to my account. I've removed the app and downloaded it again. I still can't log in. I can log in when I go to the Delta website without any issues.

Unable to log into the app. Keeps crashing with no indication as to why. Able to log in on a browser. Doesn't create a lot of trust in the app.

A Japanese reviewer reports the identical split after changing phones, which is useful because it comes from a completely separate storefront and describes the same asymmetry:

Japanese

機種変更に伴ってログインし直したら、WebでログインできるSkymile番号とパスワードでアプリではログインできなくなった。別にブラウザから利用すればいいだけの話だろうが、こういうところの細かいできが悪い。

Two caveats from the reviews themselves. The website does not carry every feature, as the Android reviewer above notes. And checking in on the web and then opening the app can leave the app asking you to check in again, which brings us to the next section.

The Passport Scan Is the Biggest Problem US Reviews Will Not Show You

This is the finding that made the multi-locale sweep worth running. The passport scan appears in 30 reviews across the corpus. Four of them are in the two US samples. The other 26 come from seven non-English storefronts.

If you read only the US reviews, you would conclude this feature is fine. It is not, and the consequence is specific: a failed scan blocks online check-in, so you land at the counter.

German

Pass abfotografieren funktioniert nicht! An der Kamera liegt es zu 100% nicht!

Required to scan passport in the App for verificatiom. But the App keep failing to scan, so it is impossible to checkin from the App....

The two US reviews that do mention it rule out the explanation Delta support tends to offer, which is the photo:

the app works, except for the passport scan. the images we tried to capture were clear, clean, without glare, and completely matched the requirements for a scan and it never worked. we had to enter the information manually and we still had to get verification from the agent in person.

And one reviewer spent an hour finding out that the scan itself had misread a single character, with no error message pointing there:

spent an hour just to figure out that the scan of my passport had decided to use a small a instead of capital A for the 2nd letter of my passport number. A clear error message would help.

Another reports a date parsing bug that locks out a whole birth cohort:

there is a bug in the app. People born in 1938 are identified as being born in 2038 and it is informed as an invalid date. It is not possible to conclude the check-in...

If you are flying internationally on Delta, the practical read is: try the passport scan days early, not at the airport, and expect to type the number manually.

At the Gate, the App and the Airport Disagree

10 reviews, 6.5%, describe the app showing information that the terminal has already superseded. The failure is not a missing screen. It is a stale screen with no indication that it is stale.

The app is extremely laggy in updating flight status and gate changes. Almost missed boarding in ATL because there was a gate change to a completely different terminal that the app didn't show and the boarding agent at the old gate had to tell us.

digital ticket but errors with gate and luggage. So first it said my gate was C8 then when people were lining up I saw the destination was wrong. I had to manually refresh and my gate had changed. Then when landing it confidently said carousal 6 for luggage. it was 4. and it did not update. :( the display boards had the right info so obs there is a disconnect from app vs airport.

That second review is the most diagnostically useful one in the set, because the reviewer checked against the airport's own displays and found them correct. The data exists. The app is not fetching it.

One more, on notifications choosing the wrong moment to be reliable:

sent me a notification that my plane has departed with my bags but never let me know it was boarding. has a departure time for the plane but no boarding time. missed my flight cause

Boarding Passes That Load, Then Do Not

22 reviews, 14.3%, are about check-in and boarding passes, the second largest cluster.

This app fails at the most basic and important function: it will not show my boarding pass. After uninstalling, reinstalling and logging back in, it still fails to show my boarding pass. I can see and change my seat selection, it shows the flight and gate, everything except my boarding pass: the QR code, boarding time, and boarding group are all not shown.

Frequently stops working. I don't just mean crashes. I mean your boarding passes disappear so 'if' it loads, take a screenshot immediately.

Spanish

he heho mi check in y ahora me faltan 4 horas para el vuelo y ya no me sale en la app

Take the screenshot. It is the only advice in this cluster that costs nothing and works every time.

A related failure hits travellers who have PreCheck and expect it to carry:

If the app knows my precheck information, why does it fail to add this to my ticket every single time I check in? The app also doesn't give me the option to add it manually before checking in either. Every single time I have to go to a kiosk amd reprint my boarding pass, or check in through the website.

drops known traveler info inexplicably creating a stressful experience at the airport!

Paying for a Bag Is Its Own Failure

9 reviews, 5.8%. Small cluster, but each one is a payment that did not complete.

An iOS reviewer names the exact interface fault:

Can't pay for my bags online bc the keyboard covers the pay button and there's no way to remove the keyboard once you've started typing. It's 2026. You don't have at least ONE engineer test this stuff out first?

this stupid app wouldn't allow me to enter my address with my zip code + 4 why I tried to pay for a bag.

Critical features are consistently broken. For example, the bag check feature causes the app to crash and one touch check-in causes the app to crash.

A keyboard covering the submit button and a zip+4 that fails validation are both ten minute fixes. They are also both reasons a traveller pays more at the counter.

Booking Breaks in Three Specific Places

12 reviews, 7.8%, and unusually for a booking flow they cluster on three named steps rather than spreading out.

The date picker:

Just updated the app and now the calendar date pickers don't work and when I finally figured out one view where they did, I can expand available flights but cannot select any of them. really broken app, not currently usable on Android

Haven't been able to book with the Delta app for over a month. The app works for bookings outside the app and can view account and all status' but no way to complete functions like selecting dates to book a flight or submit feedback to them to let them know its broken via the message feature......the "submit" button is also broken.

The second passenger:

There is some glitch where whenever I enter my second passenger and hit next it attempts to load next page and just refreshes to the same page to enter passenger 2 info. doesn't give any error message just keeps doing the same thing no matter how many times you try to submit.

And the seat map, where one reviewer describes a change they could not undo from the phone:

Out of curiosity, I tried to price an exit row seat for myself on a domestic portion of our flight home, and the app moved my entire family out of our original seats and would not let me put us back. I had to use a laptop and proper web browser to get everything put back the way we had originally booked.

Miles and Trips Go Stale Until You Log Out

A small cluster with a known remedy. Several reviewers report the app showing an old SkyMiles balance while the website shows the current one.

Gets really frustrating that I can see my current miles balance on the web but old data on the app. The app doesn't update - have to log out and log back in for the miles to update. PLEASE FIX

The past three months I have had to delete the app and reinstall it in order for my Miles to refresh.

Overall a good app but my trips are suddenly not updating anymore. Instead I have to enter them manually. I cleaned storage/cache and also reinstalled but it's still not working.

If your miles look wrong, log out and back in before you contact anyone. That is the cheapest of the two fixes reviewers report, and the other one is a reinstall.

What Is Not the App's Fault

17 of the 154 reviews, 11.0%, are about Delta the airline rather than Delta the app: delays, cancellations, gate staff, seat comfort, compensation. We did not count them in any cluster above.

Delta made me miss my connection, causing me to rent a car, which cost an extra $300. Then reimbursed me for $20 for the flight I didn't get to take.

That is a real grievance and it belongs somewhere. It is not evidence about software quality, and at 11.0% it is a notably smaller share than the retailer complaints we find in shopping apps. Delta's app reviews really are mostly about the app, which is part of why the login cluster stands out so sharply.

What to Do Before Your Next Delta Flight

Six things, all drawn from what reviewers report working:

  • Log in before you leave for the airport, not at the gate. Almost every account of a bad outcome in this set involves discovering the login problem under time pressure.
  • Have your SkyMiles number and password ready before you open the app. Do not tab out to a password manager mid-form.
  • If the fields lock, try pasting the password first, then the username, which is what unstuck it for the one reviewer who documented the bug.
  • If the app still refuses you, use delta.com in a browser. The credentials work there.
  • Screenshot your boarding pass as soon as it loads.
  • If you are flying internationally, do the passport scan days in advance and be ready to enter the number manually.

How We Read These Reviews

We pull the newest reviews rather than the most helpful, because helpfulness sorting surfaces old complaints that may already be fixed. We keep 1-3 star reviews of at least 80 characters, since one-line ratings carry no diagnosis. We categorise by what failed, not by star rating, and we hold complaints about the airline separate from complaints about the software. Every quote here was verified as an exact substring of the source review before publication. For non-English reviews we assign the language by reading the text, not by trusting the store's language bucket, which is often wrong.

Running the nine-language sweep is what turned this article around. On the US evidence alone the passport scan looks like a rounding error at four reviews. Across the corpus it is 30, and it is the failure most likely to put an international traveller in the counter queue.
