These terms describe what Unstar.app is, how content on the site is sourced, the legal basis on which it is published, and how rights holders can contact us.

1. About Unstar.app

Unstar.app (the “Service”) is an independent, third-party review aggregation and analytics platform operated by Kenan Atmaca (the “Operator”). The Service collects, organizes, and displays publicly available end-user reviews of mobile applications listed on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc., Google LLC, or any of the application publishers whose products are referenced.

The Service is intended for journalists, researchers, app developers, product managers, ASO professionals, QA teams, consumers, and the general public who wish to make informed decisions about mobile applications based on user feedback.

2. How Content Is Sourced

All third-party content displayed on the Service is obtained from publicly available sources that are intentionally made accessible by the platform operators for third-party consumption:

  • App metadata (application name, publisher, category, version, ratings, release dates, screenshots, and icons) is retrieved from the public Apple iTunes Lookup API and the public Google Play store listing pages.
  • User reviews are retrieved from Apple’s public RSS review feed and Google Play’s public review pages. These are documented, intentionally public endpoints.
  • Community reviews (Review Plus) are submitted by authenticated users of the Service and are subject to AI-assisted moderation. Author names are masked for privacy.

The Service does not scrape private data, does not bypass authentication, does not host any application binaries, and does not redistribute proprietary marketing assets, source code, or copyrighted media owned by the application publishers.

3. Trademark Policy

The Service references the names of mobile applications and their publishers solely to identify the products being reviewed. This use is strictly nominative and informational. It does not constitute trademark infringement under applicable law, including the doctrine of nominative fair use as recognized in United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Brazilian, and other major jurisdictions.

Specifically:

  • The Service uses no more of any trademark than is necessary to identify the relevant application.
  • The Service does not reproduce trademark holder logos, marketing copy, or proprietary creative assets beyond the standard product imagery distributed by Apple and Google through their public storefront APIs for the purpose of identifying the application.
  • The Service makes no claim of partnership, sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation with any trademark holder.
  • All Unstar.app pages are clearly branded as part of the Unstar.app domain, and the third-party nature of the content is unambiguous to a reasonable visitor.

The mere appearance of a trademarked product name on a review aggregation page is not, by itself, infringement. The same legal basis is relied upon by every consumer review platform in operation today, including Trustpilot, G2, Sensor Tower, App Annie / data.ai, AppFollow, and Common Sense Media.

4. No Advertising or Commercial Use of Third-Party Brands

The Service does not use any third-party trademark, application name, logo, or screenshot for advertising or commercial promotion of unrelated products. Application names and metadata appear only:

  • On the dedicated review aggregation page for that specific application.
  • In leaderboards, comparisons, and category listings where the application is the subject of editorial commentary.
  • In sitemaps, search results, and structured data necessary for the Service to be discoverable.

The Service is monetized exclusively through its own subscription product (Unstar Pro). No third-party brand is sold, licensed, or used as bait advertising for unrelated offerings.

5. Editorial Independence and Fair Comment

Unstar.app is a platform for criticism, commentary, and consumer information. Reviews displayed on the Service represent the opinions of their original authors and are presented unaltered, with original star ratings, dates, and version numbers preserved. The Service does not fabricate reviews, does not delete unfavorable reviews on the request of publishers, and does not promote any application above another in exchange for payment. Editorial selection (such as which applications appear in leaderboards) is based on objective, publicly verifiable signals such as rating count, review volume, and complaint ratio.

6. User-Generated Content (Review Plus)

Authenticated users may submit their own short reviews (1 to 3 stars, 500 character title limit, 2000 character content limit) for any application listed on the Service. By submitting a review, the user warrants that:

  • The review reflects their genuine first-hand experience of the application.
  • The review does not contain unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or knowingly false statements.
  • The review does not contain promotional content for unrelated products.

User submissions are subject to AI-assisted moderation and may be removed or edited at the Operator’s discretion. Author display names are partially masked (for example, “Jo*** Sm***”) to protect privacy.

7. Takedown and Correction Requests

Unstar.app respects the legitimate interests of trademark holders, application publishers, and other rights holders. If you believe a specific element of a page on the Service goes beyond the bounds of nominative identification or factual reporting, please send a written notice to mail.kenanatmaca@gmail.com that includes:

  • Your full name, organization, and the rights holder you represent.
  • The exact URL(s) on Unstar.app you are reporting.
  • The specific element on each URL you consider problematic (for example: a particular logo file, a specific quoted statement, a claim of partnership, a factual inaccuracy). Generic assertions that “the trademark appears on the page” are not actionable on their own.
  • A short explanation of the legal basis for your request and the remedy sought.
  • A good-faith statement that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder.

We aim to respond to substantive notices within seven (7) business days. We do not act on form-letter or automated complaints that do not identify a specific element. We reserve the right to publish or forward complaint correspondence in connection with public-interest reporting on takedown abuse.

Counter-notices, dispute resolution, and DMCA-style safe harbor procedures (where applicable in the relevant jurisdiction) follow the same contact path.

8. Acceptable Use

When using the Service you agree not to:

  • Attempt to interfere with the Service, its rate limiting, or its underlying infrastructure.
  • Submit false, fraudulent, or automated content through Review Plus.
  • Use the Service or any data exported from it to harass individuals.
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercialize bulk exports of the Service’s data without prior written permission.

9. Subscriptions and Payments

Paid features (Unstar Pro) are billed through Polar.sh under their merchant of record agreement. Pricing, billing intervals, and refund policy are described on the Pricing page. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies to all new Pro subscriptions. Cancellation is available at any time through the customer portal.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” The Operator makes no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific application’s data will be available at any given time. Review data depends on upstream availability of public Apple and Google endpoints and may temporarily lag, fail, or be incomplete.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator’s aggregate liability arising out of or relating to use of the Service is limited to the amount actually paid by the user for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred United States dollars (USD 100), whichever is greater.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye (the country in which the Operator is established) without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Where a user is a consumer protected by mandatory consumer protection law in another jurisdiction, that protection is preserved. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the competent courts of Istanbul, Türkiye.

12. Changes to These Terms

The Operator may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, applicable law, or industry practice. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the site and, for paying users, by email.
