Strava Can't Log In, Server Error: 193 Reviews (2026)
Strava logging you out, looping back to the login screen or showing a server error? We read 193 reviews in eight languages from 9-22 October 2026, and 15 say the website still works.
If Strava logged you out this month and won't let you back in, you are far from alone. Since mid-October, Strava's Google Play reviews have filled with the same report in at least seven languages: the app signs people out, then flickers back to the login screen, rejects the email code or shows a server error, no matter what they try.
We read every negative review about it from 9 to 22 October, counted what people tried, and checked what still works.
Quick Answer: Why Can't I Log In to Strava?
It is a widespread problem with the Android app, not your password. Between 9 and 22 October 2026, 193 negative Google Play reviews describe Strava logging them out and refusing to let them back in, 157 of them one star, in English, Indonesian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German and Romanian. Reports jumped on 15 October and stayed high for a week. The most common descriptions are a login screen that loops or flickers, a message that the Strava server has encountered an error, and email codes that are rejected or never arrive. 15 reviewers say the Strava website still works for them, and only 2 say it failed too. Reinstalling, clearing the cache and switching between Google and email login did not fix it for the people who tried. Strava did not reply to any of these reviews.
How We Counted
We pulled the 15,000 most recent US English-language Google Play reviews of Strava, plus the 3,000 most recent from six other storefronts: Germany, Spain, France, Indonesia, Italy and Brazil. The UK and India storefronts returned almost exactly the same reviews as the US (one new review between them). After removing duplicates we had 33,001 reviews, the newest from 22 October 2026. Strava holds 4.60 stars from 1,204,865 ratings on Google Play and 4.81 from 378,635 on the App Store. Every review below is from the Android app.
From 9 to 22 October there were 841 reviews, 406 of them 1 to 3 stars. We searched those for logging in, signing in, being logged out, server errors and maintenance in each language, read all 201 matches, and kept the 193 that describe being unable to get into the app. Of the 8 we left out, 4 are about Strava removing Facebook login, which is a separate complaint, and 4 only mention logging in in passing.

When It Started
Here is the number of these reviews by day, across all seven storefronts:
| Day | Login reviews |
|---|---|
| 9-14 October (daily average) | 6 |
| 15 October | 37 |
| 16 October | 25 |
| 17 October | 25 |
| 18 October | 20 |
| 19 October | 21 |
| 20 October | 16 |
| 21 October | 7 |
| 22 October (to 14:00 UTC) | 6 |
Another way to see the jump: from 15 September to 8 October, 76 of 483 negative reviews (16%) matched our search. From 15 to 20 October it was 149 of 246 (61%). For that week, not being able to log in was most of what people complained about.
What Reviewers See
The reviews describe three versions of the same wall. The first is a login screen that won't stay put: it flashes, reloads two or three times and drops you back where you started.
Currently can't even log into the app. flickers, press log in then it flickers again and returns to the log in screen. useless
The second is an error. 38 reviewers quote a message that the Strava server has encountered an error, or that the server is under maintenance, often telling them to contact support.
Strava suddenly stopped working on my phone after the latest update. Both Google and email login fail with a server error. Reinstalling the app and switching networks didn't help, but the web version works fine. Please fix this issue ASAP!
The third is the email code. Strava lets you log in with a code sent to your email, and 9 reviewers say the code is rejected, a new one is requested every time, or it never arrives.
Da web funzionano entrambi i metodi
Many reviewers hit more than one of these. 8 say both Google and email login failed.
The Website Still Works
This is the most useful pattern in the reviews. 15 reviewers say they can log in to Strava on the website, in a browser or on a computer, while the Android app keeps refusing them. Only 2 say the website failed for them as well.
One more reviewer says Strava still works on their tablet. That points to the Android app, not the account: the same email and password work in one place and fail in another.
Is It Your Phone?
Strava's support gave two reviewers opposite answers. A French subscriber says a human agent, reached after an AI assistant, told them some older phones are no longer supported, even with a recent enough version of Android:
FrenchL'appli était plutôt sympa jusqu'à la dernière mise à jour. Elle ne fonctionne plus (connexion impossible). Le support m'indique que certains anciens téléphones ne sont plus pris en charge même s'ils sont avec une version d'Android suffisamment récente.
A German subscriber says support told them their phone model and Android version are current and supported.
The reviews don't settle it, but they show the problem is not limited to old phones. Some reviewers name older devices, such as Android 8 and 9 phones, a Galaxy S8 and a 2017 Galaxy J7. Others name Android 14, 16 and 17, a Xiaomi 14T and a Motorola Edge 60. Two run custom systems, GrapheneOS and LineageOS, and both say login stopped working.
It also isn't one version. 97 of the 193 reviews are on Strava 485.12 and 48 on 484.10, but 7 are on the newest version we saw, 486.9, and were posted on 20 to 22 October, so updating has not fixed it for everyone.
What Strava Support Says
Strava doesn't answer these reviews, so all we have is what reviewers report from support. Several say the contact form leads to an AI assistant first.
I enjoyed this app, but since the latest update I have been unable to sign in (server error apparently). Emailed support as it suggested, and get a generic email back giving various suggestions on how to fix it. Looks like it's a bug within the update but doesn't look like they're that bothered to sort it. Please please fix!
A Spanish reviewer says support told them there was no problem. A French reviewer says they wrote to support and had no answer two weeks later.
Is It Fixed?
Not yet, as far as the reviews show. The daily count fell to 7 on 21 October and 6 by the afternoon of 22 October, back near the early October level, but reports on the newest version keep coming. Two reviewers say reinstalling got them in only for a while. A French reviewer says it worked again after reinstalling, then the bug came back four days later. A Brazilian reviewer says reinstalling fixes it temporarily, then it breaks again.
Some people lost more than access. One reviewer was sent to the login page while their run was paused, and the paused run was gone. A Brazilian reviewer says the app froze with their activity unsaved and then asked them to log in.
What You Can Do
Use the website for now. 15 reviewers say strava.com works when the app doesn't, so your account and activities are still there.
Don't count on reinstalling or clearing the cache. 23 reviewers tried, and none say it fixed the problem for good. If you are still logged in, there is no reason to risk logging out.
Switching login method didn't help. Reviewers tried Google, then email, then a different email, and both kinds of login failed for 8 of them.
Update, but don't expect miracles. 7 reviewers on the newest version, 486.9, still couldn't log in.
If you used Facebook to log in, that is a different problem. 4 reviews in the same two weeks complain about Strava removing Facebook login, and one says Strava now tells them their Facebook-linked account does not exist.
Strava's other big complaint this year was runs that would not save, which we covered in Strava not recording: runs lost or cut short. For other apps that locked people out this month, see Pinterest not loading or letting people log in and Spotify logging people out.
