FedEx App Notifications Not Working? 514 Reviews (2026)

By Unstar · Editorial Team

FedEx alerts you switched on never fire, and the login that would fix them loops. We read 514 recent 1-3 star reviews from both stores to map what actually breaks.

If your FedEx delivery alerts stopped arriving, the most likely reason is not your phone settings. The app signs you out on its own, and the push alerts you set inside Delivery Manager only fire while you are signed in. One reviewer worked this out and wrote down the fix that follows from it: move your alerts to email or SMS, which keep arriving whether or not the app has decided you are still logged in.

If you then try to log back in and cannot, that is the second problem, and it is the bigger one.

On 6 August 2026 we pulled the 500 newest US reviews from both stores. On Google Play, 403 of 500 were rated 1-3 stars, 333 of them one star, and 212 were long enough to categorise, spanning 29 June to 5 August 2026. On the App Store, 434 of 500 were 1-3 stars, 342 of them one star, and 302 were long enough to categorise, covering app versions 7.29.0 through 7.30.3. That is 514 categorised complaints across the two platforms.

That Google Play average is the lowest we have measured for any major US consumer app this summer, below Robinhood at 4.15 and Angi at 4.20. The gap between the two stores is also unusually wide, and the version numbers show why that is possible: these are two separate builds on two separate release lines, not one app shipped twice.

You Get Logged Out, and the Alerts Leave With You

84 of the 514 reviews mention notifications, 53 on iOS and 31 on Android. Almost none of them are asking for a new feature. They are describing alerts that were switched on and then stopped.

The clearest account of the mechanism comes from an iOS reviewer who treated it as a bug report rather than a complaint:

ifications don’t work for people that don’t use the app frequently enough to log back into it when it logs you out. Why does the login session expire? Who knows. I haven’t picked apart a cookie to see if that

The same review ends with the only workaround in the entire set that reliably survives a logout:

you cannot rely on this app to notify you for your Delivery Manager push notifications. Set it to email or SMS.

Other reviewers describe the two halves separately without connecting them.

Keeps logging me out of the app and I don’t get notifications for my packages so I’ve been having my packages be messed up

s you out every time you close app so notifications do not work correctly on iOS. If you leave the app open in the background, it still acts like you’ve logged out and in turn notifications still don’t work properly. This has been happening for a couple months and it’

ipments you have toggled on for push notifications don’t work at all (yes I’ve checked app permissions). Icons and buttons in the app glitch or rando

That last parenthesis matters. Checking the operating system permission is the first thing anyone suggests, and it is not where this fails.

Getting Back In Is the Hard Part

94 reviews (18.3%) are about logging in, and this is the largest single theme in the set: 45 of 212 on Android, 49 of 302 on iOS. On iOS the recurring phrase is a session that has already expired by the time you open the app.

Every time I try to log in it just says session has expired. I receive shipments daily and depend on this app. Definitely needs fixed

constantly says “session expired” when I try to login. Disabled FaceID. Restarted app multiple times. Nothing works. I know my creds and can login in browser. Virtual Assistant in app is terrib

That last detail appears repeatedly: the same credentials work in a browser. On Android the failure is different and more specific. It is the two-step verification code.

The Codes Arrive Late, Wrong, or Fifteen at Once

I enabled 2 Step Verification, it texted me a code, and when I typed it in and clicked continue the app got stuck in a loop. After 3 minutes it came out of the loop and said the code expired. Went through the same process with an emailed code. And then with a phone call. After the call code failed, I had one last try with a text and the loop appeared, like a circle of death. Round and round and round. Uninstalled. Reinstalled. Same 3 tries, same 3 results. Uninstalled and gave up.

Three delivery methods, three failures, twice through. Another reviewer describes what happens when the codes do arrive, just not on time:

Garbage app. If you can't remember your username and/or password then you follow the prompts to request a verification code. That code never comes. I selected text message - no code. Selected email - no code. Finally resorted to Call me - no code. That was yesterday. This morning I woke up to 15 emails from fedex with my verification code. Those were obviously expired so I went through the same bs as yesterday, again, no code. I give up.

One review explains the trap that makes the email route useless even when the mail is fast:

the 2 factory authentication is broken. if you have to tab to your email to get the code it resets and resends the code making the one you just got not valid. switching to text causes it to crash.

Leaving the app to fetch the code invalidates the code. That is the whole loop in one sentence, and it explains why so many reviewers report that the code is "always wrong" when they are certain they typed it correctly.

I once had no issues, intill the new update. I can msg/email the 2 step verification to myself. but the password given is always wrong somehow even if I type it by hand. I have 10 mins before it expires. but the app crashes after you hit send pin. then just sits there with a loading circle to never finalize and load properly to allow you to type the pin for log in.

codes to reset password expire in less than 10 seconds for text, and email doesn't work

The Settings That Will Not Save

A smaller but very consistent cluster describes notification preferences that reset themselves, plus a prompt asking you to fix preferences you have already fixed.

so buggy. login issues, tracking issues. constantly covers half the screen with the same prompt to update notifications when I already done that many times. preferences don't stay toggled. clicking options within app doesn't always work. often have to log in over and over again.

It works, but it's slow and buggy, and I can't get push notifications to work. Every time I use the app it asks me to update my notification settings, which I would like to do, so I would get push notifications, but I am still unable to save changes to notification settings. It's literally been years!!! FIX THIS.

All I wanted was a notification but the notification toggle in the app won't stay checked.

I signed up for notifications on a package next thing you know my notifications are turned off. why?

One iOS reviewer reports the same failure to save running in the opposite direction, with a setting appearing that they never chose:

rences like vacation hold without permission. Then you can’t change it back. The AI messenger is not helpful. And the drivers just lie ab

Delivery Manager Is the Product, and Enrolment Is Where It Stops

61 reviews (11.9%) are about delivery controls: instructions, holds, redirects, signatures. This is what the app is for. Tracking a number is something the public website does without an account. Everything that makes the app worth installing sits behind Delivery Manager, and a large share of these reviews never get inside it.

The fact that in 2026 FedEx Delivery Manager is still having the same issues it had in 2024 is pathetic. I have signed up and each time I log in it never lets me log in to Delivery Manager.

In attempting to sign up for Delivery Manager, app replies that the email address is invalid. This is after they emailed a code to my email address so I could log into the app.

Signing up for Delivery Manager is impossible as it simply tells me to try again later, but later never comes.

The email address that just received your login code is rejected as invalid by the enrolment form. Reviewers who do get in describe controls that accept input and then do nothing.

And the edit delivery instructions button appears to be only decorative.

I recently moved to a new address. The app can't add my new address or change my delivery instructions or even access Info or Help in the app. No matter what I try to do, I get a message telling me that I am not authorized to do that.

Everytime an indirect signature is required, it won't let me sign or hold at a different location.

Unable to change Hold location to within an area greater than 5 miles.

If you put a vacation hold on a delivery, dont expect to remove it.

The Map People Actually Wanted

52 reviews (10.1%) mention the map, the delivery window or the truck's position. This one has a history: reviewers describe a live map they used to have.

I used to be able to locate the truck as it was getting closer to my home. but now all I get is a notification saying the map is unavailable at this time. what happened?

Map tracking is never available so it's impossible to tell more precisely when delivery will arrive.

okay for tracking, delivery map does not work even within "delivery window" .Keeps trying to verify with previous resident's cell phone, even though I updated my address.

That last review is the most useful in the group, because it names the gate. The map is behind identity verification, and verification is tied to a phone number that the account may have picked up years ago. Another reviewer hits the same wall from the other side:

setting up the account recalled old data that was two plus years old and ingested that phone number so I can't verify anything which prevents me from using the map function.

And one iOS reviewer reports the map working in the mobile browser while the app does not offer it at all:

een having an issue where if I use the mobile website it will often show me a map of where the driver is in proximity to me. It’s annoying though due to 2FA, which I hate. But it never works on the app, it’s not even an option. Then when I do what google suggests to fix ( clear cache, log out a

The Android Crash Loop

55 reviews (10.7%) mention crashing, and this one is heavily Android: 41 of 212 Android reviews against 14 of 302 on iOS. The distinctive detail is that Android itself is reporting the app, not just the user.

Android versionReviews in setMentioning crashes

Since July 3 update app crashes every time I open it. I have cleared the cache but each launch asks me to update my notification preferences, it shows me my package I was notified about, and then it crashes.

I have a Galaxy s24 ultra and an s25 ultra. both of my phones are constantly warning me that the app keeps crashing and causing problems. When the app works, it's wonderful. When it doesn't, it's useless.

Installed yesterday, 8/2/26, to track packages with issues. This app crashes constantly to the point my Android phone system warned me several times. I had to uninstall it.

Being placed into Deep Sleep by the phone's own battery manager closes the loop with the notification complaints: an app the system has put to sleep does not deliver push alerts either.

Ask For Help, Get a Bot

82 reviews (16.0%) mention the virtual assistant, a chatbot or customer service. The pattern is the one we found in eBay's suspension appeals and again in the AT&T app below: the failure is in the automated layer, and the automated layer is also the only route to report it.

No eay way to ask about the app crashes, just bot answering machines that don't understand anything beyond yes, no and doortag number.

I needed assistance from the AI chat. After a while it would glitch and show only part of the icon with a grey smudge next to it. I called the helpline and when the AI phone assistant could not understand and tried to link me to a human, I got twenty minutes of static.

Then there is no where to report the issue other than to call.

What Still Works

Nothing here is advice from FedEx. It is what reviewers report doing when the app fails them.

  • Track without an account. Plain tracking by number on the public site does not require the login that keeps breaking. 62 reviews (12.1%) mention the website or a browser, most of them favourably by comparison: "The website is much better, skip the app."
  • Move alerts off push. Email and SMS alerts are not tied to an app session that expires.
  • Do not fetch the code from another app. Where reviewers describe success, the code arrives by SMS and is entered without leaving the FedEx app, because switching apps triggers a resend that invalidates the code in hand.
  • Do the delivery changes on desktop. Reviewers who cannot enrol or edit instructions in the app frequently complete the same task in a desktop browser.
  • If the phone number on the account is stale, fix that first. Verification, the map and delivery changes all hang off it.

What We Did Not Count

99 reviews (19.3%) are about the delivery service itself: drivers who did not ring, packages left in the wrong place, dates that moved, customs. Those are real, and several are worse than anything in the software, but they are not app defects and they are not counted in any cluster above. The same goes for the recurring comparison to UPS, which is a verdict on the company rather than the build.

We also did not treat the store averages as interchangeable with this set. A 3.77 average is built from millions of ratings including everyone who never writes anything. What we sampled is the newest negative writing, which is where defects surface first and where satisfied users are absent by definition.

The Same Complaints in Five Languages

The failures above are not a US quirk. The same three themes come back in storefront after storefront, in the local language.

The Polish review is the cleanest summary anyone gave us: the same tracking number returns a current status on the website and nothing in the app.

The Short Version

The FedEx app has one job that the website already does for free, and one job that only it can do. Tracking a number is the free part. Delivery Manager, with its holds, redirects, instructions and alerts, is the part worth installing an app for, and across 514 recent negative reviews it is the part gated behind an enrolment and a login that a large number of people cannot complete. When the session expires, the alerts stop with it, and the route back in runs through a verification code that arrives late, arrives fifteen at a time, or invalidates itself the moment you go and read it.

If you only change one thing today, change your Delivery Manager alerts from push to email or SMS.
